The first time I saw the show, it was done by a local group of professional actors and actresses and performed at the local community college. Now aside from a little bit of the history, I particularly love A Chorus Line because I’ve seen the show twice so far. One could say that A Chorus Line saved broadway, or at least breathed a lot of life back into it. However, in lieu of its simplicity, it won the Pulitzer prize, nine Tony awards, and many other accolades in its Broadway runs. The show consists simply of a cast of characters, one dancing studio scene, and one single costume change for the final number.
It is a very unque musical for the time, because it went against most principles of big, flashy shows, costumes, and sets. “Orchestra… and balcony!” A Chorus Line is a hit broadway musical that premiered in 1975, but is still widely performed to this day off broadway and in some high school.
